This red vintage side table has a classic and almost theatrical character. The large, round tabletop is supported by an elegant sculptural column base, ending in a distinctive and symmetrical foot with soft curves and decorative details.
A piece with history and classical references
The design of Lady Marmalade clearly draws on Neoclassical and Empire-inspired furniture traditions. Symmetry, columns and decorative details give the table an elegant and almost architectural character.
The exact age and origin of the table are unknown, but we estimate that it was made around the middle of the 20th century. It is therefore a later interpretation of a classical design language rather than an original Empire piece.
It was precisely the combination of these historical references, the round tabletop, the distinctive column and the unusual base that made the table worth preserving and transforming.
From traditional wooden table to Lady Marmalade
When the table came to by Laden, it still had its original wood-coloured appearance. The shape was already interesting and the details were there, but the table called for a new identity.
At by Laden, the vintage table has therefore undergone an extensive transformation.
The muted red high-gloss finish gives the table depth, warmth and a distinctive contemporary expression. The golden details highlight the ornamental feet and create an elegant contrast with the red colour.
The result is Lady Marmalade – a red vintage side table where classic furniture design meets colour, high-gloss finish and a more playful contemporary expression.
Side table, lamp table or living room table?
With a height of 60 cm and a round tabletop measuring 80 cm in diameter, Lady Marmalade can be used in several ways.
It works beautifully as a striking side table beside a sofa, as a lamp table or as an independent sculptural element in the room. Thanks to its generous round tabletop, Lady Marmalade can also be used as a higher living room table, where its strong colour creates an interesting contrast against a calmer, Scandinavian-inspired interior.
Lady Marmalade is a one-of-a-kind piece by by Laden. An older piece of furniture, restored, reworked and transformed with respect for the forms and details that made it worth preserving – without being bound by how it once looked.
