Masterpieces – Furniture Art with Bold Color, Character, and Story
Masterpieces is by Laden’s series of furniture art and unique pieces, where traditional craftsmanship meets colour and artistic transformation. Each piece begins as a high-quality item of furniture and is reimagined into a hand-painted and unique work with a new story.
Every Masterpiece is an independent work of furniture art. Colours are rich, vibrant and full of energy, and the surfaces actively engage with light, contrast and atmosphere. These are pieces that do not seek to blend into a space, but instead insist on being seen – and felt.
While the expression is playful and bold, the craftsmanship remains uncompromising. Each piece is carefully dismantled, rebuilt and reinforced before receiving its final surface. The result is furniture art that is both visually striking and fully functional – created to last for many years.
Masterpieces is for those who seek unique furniture with character – or who wish to become part of the process through their own pieces. For homes where furniture is allowed to spark conversation, evoke emotion and bring colour into everyday life.
A new story is taking shape
A new story takes shape in each piece — here is the story behind the console mirror.
The console mirror stood at a second-hand shop in Sønderborg, among porcelain with small chips and furniture that had served its purpose for decades. It was not a mirror that called loudly for attention, but one you begin to notice when you linger just a little longer.
One imagines it once hanging in an entrance hall, where coats were buttoned and hats adjusted, perhaps in a home where the mirror quietly witnessed both everyday moments and special occasions. The glass had already been replaced, as if someone had once chosen to preserve the frame and let it continue its journey, even as time left its marks.
In collaboration with the young artist EKL, the mirror was given a new narrative. The work carries a distinct voice, where text and colour become part of the expression of furniture art. The expression adds character and presence, without overpowering the mirror’s original calm.
The frame has been carefully restored and reinforced, allowing it to stand with dignity once more. Traces of time have not been hidden, but preserved and elevated as part of the work’s identity. It is an example of how furniture art can transform existing pieces into new, unique objects with both history and contemporary relevance – where past and present meet in a shared expression.
